while browsing for free printable 2013 calendar to perk up my work station, i stumbled upon design milk’s best 2013 modern calendars.

The Wandkalendar pictured below grabs my attention.

rather than spending €14.50 for it, i decided to make one for myself.

You only need: calendar + post it notes + a hole punch

get the free pdf pattern here.

then punch holes on the post it notes..

jot down the notes/reminder, highlight the date with the hole, et voila!

took me a while to make the pattern. glad it turned out right.

i finished this pouch so late last night, i had a dream i was in a craft store, buying supplies hahaha..

why only stuck with envelope when you can make more from the pattern?

an order i finished last sunday. it works up quite quickly.

(start with color 1) for the foundation, chain multiple of 3, plus 1.

row 1 - v stitch (dc, ch 1, dc) in 5th ch from hook. [sk 2 ch, v stitch] to last 2ch. sk 1 ch, dc in last ch.

next rows - ch 3, v stitch in each ch1 sp across, dc on top of turning ch from last row.

edging: (change to color 2, or not - your call) ch 1, sc around evenly, working 2 or 3 scs on each corner, join with sl st.

(change back to color 1) ch 1, work shell (sk 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc) around, join with sl st.

this last part can be a little tricky if your stitch count doesnt match up. but you can get around it, by adjusting the shell (sk 1 or 3 sc instead of 2) in some places.

- 3 or 4 scalloped shapes (refer to the pic) in various colors

- 2 circles on white

- 2 smaller circles on any color

just something i made last week. pattern can be found here, but i made some adjustments.

instead of forming 8ch into a ring with sl st, i used magic adjustable ring. and maybe because i used the ring, 9 petals fit better, instead of 10 in the pattern. i decreased the pattern count from round 4 onward.

so for round 4, it’s 54 dcs (space it evenly), for round 5 it’s 9 shells, 9 sc and so on.

- two circles on white + two smaller circles on black for the eyes

- two small ovals on yellow

- two hands on green

draw the mouth with your sharpies.

cut the upper corners of the envelope to have rounded edges like the one in the picture.

i’m a big fan on my milk toof. i hadn’t checked the blog for a while. today i did, and whoooaa.. what an ambitious new story.

lardee got sick, and ickle tried to get him to eat some soup.

click here for the print ready template. as for the collage one, have this template on black paper, then cut:

- one heart shape on white (cut the bottom part) for the face.

- one oval on white for the body

- two circles on pink for the cheeks

- two smaller circles on black for the eyes (or just draw them)

- one diamond on orange for the beak

- two tulip shape on orange for the feet.

easy peasy! just be careful when pasting the face and the body on. make sure they align well.

however long it is, long holiday ends

eid holiday is almost over, and monday is coming much sooner than i thought. and for a fresh start at the office, i have this mini retro typewriter from paperfoldables.com to post my to do lists. you can download it here.

and i’ll also be gracing my work station with this september calendar from calendar of the month club, which can be used as shadow box/photo frame when the month is through.

gaaawd.. my internet connection in these several few days is killing me. but it’s all ok now, so.. yaaaay!

ok now, so i and my family celebrated eid al fitr on wednesday. some celebrated it a day earlier. but it doesn’t really matter. what’s important is that you get together with your family, getting back in touch. as for me, it means craft time with the kids (and not to forget, great foods.

a day before eid, i decided to make some finger puppets, for my cousins/nieces/nephews when they visit my house. then i made speech bubbles and attached them to the puppets, took photos, turned them into a comic, and later to this eid greeting card.

too bad i dont have enough time to send the cards. i’m so doing this next year.

as for the envelopes i prepared, it’s a big success :) and since i have some templates left, i let some of them decorate their own envelopes, while their parents were chatting with my mom. (craft is such a great way to distract the kids, i do this on every family gathering). and here are the pics.

so, happy eid mubarak, everyone! let’s start anew!

p.s. i’ll post a new envelope pattern tomorrow.

sorry for not posting yesterday. i’d love to make up for it by sharing two patterns today. but, ehm, we’ll see..

for now, you can download elmo envelope pattern here.

and if you fancy the collage one, it’s quite easy to make. just print this template on red paper, then cut:

-two circles on white

-two smaller circles on black (or again, just draw black circles on the white ones)

- one circle on orange

-one crescent on black

om nom nom nom nom.. it’s time for cookie monster.

download the print-ready version here. but if you want to do some collage, you can just print this template on blue and assemble the envelope yourself.

you need:

- 2 circles on white paper for the eyes

- 2 smaller circles on black for the eyeballs (or just draw them on the white circles).

-one crescent on black for the mouth.

- one circle on light brown for the cookie, and don’t forget to draw the chocolate chips.

ready for assembly!

ied is coming soon, and for the kids it’s pretty much like halloween, but it’s all treats. no tricks, and sans the costumes. and these kids, i believe, have a good network in which they inform each other which family gives large amount of money or fancy foods/drinks. not long after you give 5000 IDR to each kid (that’s quite generous, the standard is 1000-2000 IDR), their friends will raid your house.

this year i’m preparing some envelopes for the money, and sell some to my friends ;) there are 6 designs (panda, owl, elmo, cookie monster, chicken, and penguin). the ones i made are collage envelopes, using color papers. but to spare you the hassle, i’ll be giving out the print-ready ones. and i’ll be sharing one design each day, starting from today.

for today, it’s panda!
